Greenwood, South Carolina provides a wide variety of excellent educational opportunities from preschool to graduate school, in public and private institutions, and from professional enrichment experiences.

   

Good Schools Around The "Neighborhood" - Springfield Elementary (L)
and Emerald High School (R) are only five minutes from home.

Maxwell Springs is located within five minutes of a public elementary school (Springfield), a soon-to-be constructed middle school (Westview), and a high school (Emerald). If parents prefer private facilities, both Cambridge Academy and Greenwood Christian School provide educational opportunities for preschool through high school. Cambridge Academy, an independent, college preparatory day school, has had 100% of its graduates attend colleges and universities across the United States and large numbers of graduates have pursued advanced degrees. Greenwood Christian School is an independent, non-denominational Christian school, which emphasizes academics as well as service and missions (both local and overseas).

The new Westview Middle School will be within walking distance. Plans call for opening in 2002.

Piedmont Technical College is an occupation and technical education center with health, engineering, industrial, business, and public service courses. Piedmont Tech offers 23 associate degrees, college transfer programs, and certificate programs. Its Continuing Education Department offers area residents opportunities to develop and explore new interests in a pursuit of Lifelong Learning.

Piedmont Technical College - (serving 3000 students and 1500 continuing education students) energizes Greenwood's Vision of a community enriched by Lifelong Learning.

Lander University is on a 100 acre campus at the geographical, cultural, and historical heart of Greenwood. Founded in 1872 in Williamston and relocated to Greenwood in 1904, Lander had its origins as an innovative opportunity for women in higher education. Now it is a four-year co-educational state university offering more than 60 areas of study with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music Education, a Masters degree in Education, and a Masters in Business Administration in cooperation with Clemson University. Lander has approximately 3,000 students from 23 states and 17 foreign countries. As home for the Lander /Greenwood Performing Arts Series, the Monsanto Art Gallery, a Summer Creative Activities Program for Children, lectures by distinguished scholars, and writers' conferences, Lander University is also a cultural focal point.

Lander University - 3000 students, 130 faculty and 100 acres of campus add pizzazz and depth to life in Greenwood.

Surrounding Higher Education - Maxwell Springs is also within a two-hour drive of an impressive list of institutions of higher education. Just outside the immediate Greenwood area are The University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Converse College, Erskine College and Seminary, Furman University, Bob Jones University, North Greenville College, Presbyterian College, and Wofford College.
